My brother and his family are up next. My nephew turned 3 months old last month, and we snapped a few Christmas photos at their house as well.

This one reminds me so much of us growing up in North Dakota. My brother and I would race down the sharp incline on our driveway…and sled down it when it was piled deep with snow. Both my brother and I have kids that look so much like us as kids, it should be a crime.

I really liked this next one, and it will probably embarrass my brother and his wife, but we’ve been doing that for years. Why stop now?

The gummy grins get me every time.

Well, every shot can’t be perfect.

Spring is in the air…finally!

Every time I step outside to see that something new has budded out or I hear the chirping of birds finding the way back to their summer homes, I can’t help but smile. My little girl and I find joy in the quiet flapping of a kite in the summer breeze and chins dribbling with melted ice cream. I’m so glad that spring is finally here!

Spring also means outdoor photo sessions! I was excited to meet these two sweet little girls, age 3 and 4. I couldn’t help but see my little one in the youngest girl, with her silly grins and attention focused more on exploring. Since they were wearing their Easter dresses when they arrived, I was hoping that her interest in exploration didn’t involve big muddy puddles. Her older sister was quite happy to play along as I clicked away, and I finally caught their attention with a game of Simon Says.

Now if I could just narrow down my favorites!

Dancing the Night Away

My little girl’s dance studio had a Father and Daughter dance in February, and I was so honored that the studio allowed me to take photographs of the girls and their daddies. The photos are now up on my ordering site, so if you didn’t get an email, please let me know. Check out this beautiful girl that also goes to Mother’s Day Out with my daughter. I love this pose so much that I got a 16×24 for my new studio. I’m so excited!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Whew, it took a lot of posts to get here, but this was one of my goals for the day.  I feel like my blog is actually living in the present.  Ha ha!  I want to share with you some pictures I took of my daughter last week for her Valentine’s Day cards.  I was so pleased with how they turned out.  Now if I only knew where I misplaced my little girl.  Sigh.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Okay, so on my last post I said it was my last session of the holiday season, but I did do one more holiday session at my daughter’s Christmas dance performance.  I enjoyed meeting all of the girls, and we had a great time.  If only that kid hadn’t pulled the fire alarm in the middle of it!  Oh well.  🙂

Under the bridge

I feel so blessed that not one, but two of my best buddies from high school called me up to schedule sessions for when they were in town over the holidays. (Actually, it was three, but I had to cancel one due to the ice storm. Sorry, C!)  This buddy and her family call Colorado home now, which was our saving grace because is was FREEZING on the day we had scheduled it.  Being the nice person I am, I made them shed their coats for the sake of art…outside!   I figured that it was almost shorts weather for them given their new locale.  Ha ha! It was great to see them again. I wish that they still lived in Oklahoma, but if I keep this up, hopefully I’ll get to see them around Thanksgiving for annual photos. It’s my sneaky way of making an excuse to get to see them every year.

Hats off

I usually photograph younger children, so when mom and dad said that we could run around the park grounds for this photoshoot, I probably had a look of bewilderment on my face. I was really appreciative of his parent’s trust in me, so off we ran. It was amazing how his demeanor changed for me! He loved hamming it up when his parents were around, but he really listened for me when we were on our own. Mom sent along some awesome hats, so I was excited to try them all out. Go mom!
