Under the bridge

I feel so blessed that not one, but two of my best buddies from high school called me up to schedule sessions for when they were in town over the holidays. (Actually, it was three, but I had to cancel one due to the ice storm. Sorry, C!)  This buddy and her family call Colorado home now, which was our saving grace because is was FREEZING on the day we had scheduled it.  Being the nice person I am, I made them shed their coats for the sake of art…outside!   I figured that it was almost shorts weather for them given their new locale.  Ha ha! It was great to see them again. I wish that they still lived in Oklahoma, but if I keep this up, hopefully I’ll get to see them around Thanksgiving for annual photos. It’s my sneaky way of making an excuse to get to see them every year.

Color pop

This was one of those sessions that you just love. The weather was beautiful, the grounds were full of color, and the girls’ little dresses were perfect. I loved he blues and the fun little accents like dots. Great job, mom!

I brought some fun little props along, too. The look on the little girl’s face is priceless. It makes me laugh every time!

Although it’s a little creepy, I adore this set of gates. I always get great distressed color from it and the surrounding block. It’s a great way to get kid’s attention too! “Did I see Elmo in there?”

I love this last shot. The beautiful fall leaves almost look like a golden pond in the background. Mom and girls are just beautiful, and this shot only enforces that. It was a great session with a fantastic and incredibly sweet family.

Sisters

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph these two beautiful young girls. Mom was actually a referral of a referral, so I really cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate the word of mouth for Whitecotton Studio. Mom said that her last photographer could not believe how much the older girl was a photographer’s dream, and that is no lie. She was so easy to work with that I didn’t know what to do with myself. So, I ran around after her little sister for awhile to make sure that I was still photographing children. A lot of parents apologize for their children, but I’m used to it by now. It takes a lot for a child to open up to a stranger, so I completely understand. It’s usually toward the end of a session that I make a breakthrough. These girls were absolutely incredible, and I can’t wait to schedule another session with them.

Well, I am insanely behind on my blog posts on my recent sessions. I have little time to do my updates, so I’m going to try to get as many done as I can.

This family has a wonderful grandma with a beautiful home. Check out that outdoor fireplace in the first picture!  When I showed up on her doorstep, she had no idea why I was there because she was supposed to be out shopping during the session. Leave it to me to ruin the surprise!

I have featured two of these boys on my blog before here. It’s wonderful to see how much they have grown. It’s just amazing what a few months makes! I am still cracking up at the little one’s tongue!

I’ve known this family a long time, almost as long as my brother. He, on the other hand, married into it, so it’s a pretty great family!

My nephew has some incredible blue eyes just like his daddy. I didn’t get too many smiles from him, but I sure did get a lot of these faces. Such a serious little man!

This is my brother’s niece, and I just can’t believe how much she’s grown since I first met her. She is turning into a beautiful young lady. She was my little helper during the shoot, and I always appreciate it when my clients step in to make it a better experience for everyone.
